Unique Employer Strategies

Self-Funded and Partial Self-Funded Plans
A Self-Funded plan, also called a Self-Insured plan, allows employers to customize insurance offerings to their employees by assuming the financial risk of providing health care benefits. In other words, the employer pays for claims out of pocket. This type of plan does away with the “one size fits all” policy, as the employer does not pre-pay for coverage. Instead, the employer can set up a special trust fund for paying claims, then administer claims in-house or subcontract this service. Self-funded plans are regulated under federal law and so avoid conflicting state mandates, and employers are free to contract with whatever providers they choose.

“Cost Plus” / “Referenced Based Pricing”
Alternative Employee Benefit Plans Utilizing Unique Partnerships and Structured Programs – With “Cost Plus”, the plans and area hospitals typically agree on a pre-determined margin – oftentimes only 15-20% over Medicare.   Employers often save 40% or more in comparison to the plans offered by the major healthcare providers.  This product is only offered to larger corporate groups.  Please contact us to learn more about this unique strategy for reducing health care costs for corporations.
